Starting this Friday – April 17, 2009, the Interdependence Project is going to be practicing 30 days of responsible consumption. (If you are in the NYC area, please come to our Kick Off Party – see here for more info.)
But no matter where you are, we hope you will pledge to reduce some aspect of your consumption of disposable items for the next 30 days. If you are looking for ideas, check out our low-impact guidelines and survival kit.
Once you have made a commitment, you can join the discussion as we share how each of us are doing in our practice, document 24 hours of your practice to share with others, or post photos to the Flickr group.
We have set up a page with information and resources to help you maintain your pledge and learn more about responsible consumption.
We have activities planned throughout the month, including a Day of Practice in Action (in conjunction with the Green Apple Festival) this Sunday April 19th at the Lila Center in NYC, which will include bag making, street theater, hitting the pavement to talk to people about consumption, and an overview of Integral Activism Theory from New York State Senator Eric Schneiderman.
I will be blogging about all our activities (to be posted on Wednesday mornings over the next 4 weeks), so stay tuned…
