I decided to write about creativity today because too many of you guys write me and tell me that you are not creative. And I BEG to differ.
YOU are tremendously creative.
Creativity is NOT about being a visual artist, a musician, a song writer, a poet, or any of those types of things.
The Latin root of the word ‘creative’ is “to have grown.” Being creative is a process that we use all day long, every single day of our lives.
“To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” ~ Henri Bergson.
Get it? YOU are endlessly creating yourself. It’s important that you do ‘get it,’ because you have created every aspect of yourself and your life by the conscious and unconscious choices that you have made. Once you grasp this idea, you can start to think ‘outside the box’ creatively and come up with many more choices and ways in which you can creative your life.
“Creativity is a learning process where the teacher and the pupil are located in the same individual.” ~ Arthur Koestler
Don’t let perfectionism or self-criticism get in the way. Don’t allow your evil twin to send negative messages, “I can’t do it!”
You can take a creative approach. You can grow, take risks, experiment, explore, break the rules, and make mistakes. You can play and have fun! You have but one life to live “your way.”
Recognize that you are your own teacher and pupil.
Spread the word … NOT the icing!
