Just this past week, my daughter-in-law was driving through Monroe, Ohio, and there HE was. The Big Butter Jesus. She’d never seen a Jesus of such magnitude, so she stopped and snapped a photo to share with me.
This morning, when I read that the King of Kings Statue, a.k.a. Touchdown Jesus or Big Butter Jesus, which lived on the grounds of Solid Rock church was reportedly struck by lightening at midnight on June 15, I thought “what a coincidence.”
Coincidence? Sign? Godwink? I’m not sure …
Nevertheless, I share this story with you, just for the fun and/or mystery of it!
The Statue was called BIG BUTTER Jesus, because of its pose and color. It was the largest sculpture of Jesus Christ in the States, built in the year 2004. It was 60 feet high and weighed around 8 tons.
Those who knew and loved the Big Butter Jesus hope to see it restored, and while I haven’t ‘met’ the Big Butter Jesus, I do love HIS name and he holds special meaning for me.
