Holy Guacamole! Who would have thunk it? According to researchers at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, dieters with an optimistic view and high hopes for a thinner future are less likely to lose weight than their pessimistic counterparts. Optimists have a tendency to cheat more often!
Based on my own experience, I can say that on that fateful day over 9 years ago, when I rolled out of bed fatter than ever, I did not say, “Whoopee. This is going to be a cake walk.” I was depressed, defeated and deprived.
When we decide to go on a ‘diet,’ we essentially push away from feelings of discontent. We gather a vast amount of energy from not liking ourselves, being disgusted, and ashamed of how we look. We don’t like ourselves. No, we sure don’t.
So take heart! If you are feeling down and defeated, you may be in a better place than you’d originally thought! Smile. But don’t turn into a cheatin’ optimist!!! 🙂
Spread the word … NOT the icing!
