MaryJo confessed that she frequently, throughout the day and sometimes into the
night visits her refrigerator, tugging on its doors – opening and closing them – peering in the vegetable bins and sometimes the freezer.
On occasion, she gets down low on her knees and peers behind the partially empty bottles of ketchup, mustard and mayo.
“What are you looking for?” I asked.
She didn’t know, but whatever it was, we were both pretty much positive that she wouldn’t find it in the fridge.
We talked a bit and brainstormed and came up with a simple idea that helped her to stop this mindless activity.
MaryJo put up signs on the fridge and cabinets that asked, “What are you looking for?” As soon as she saw the sign, she smiled and walked out of the kitchen.
All was working brilliantly until one day, MaryJo sadly reported to me that she was back to mindlessly peering in the fridge.
“What happened?” I asked. “Aren’t the signs working for you any longer?”
To which she replied, “Oh, they fell down.”
If your signs fall down, please – put them back up!
Spread the word … NOT the icing,
Janice
