Last month, I spoke at a healthy eating conference and, once again, during the Q&A part of my presentation, people began to toss out the whys and wherefores and their reasons as to how it is that they cannot lose weight.
Once we made the distinction because real reasons and excuses, the proverbial light bulb began to snap, crackle, pop. And then, miracle of all miracles, people started to ‘drop the excuse.‘
Today, Our Lady of Weight Loss and I would like to share some of their excuses/reasons, and we invite you to add your own below! And then, drop it!
A reason is a noun, pronounced ‘rE-z&n – it is a statement offered in explanation or justification; something that supports a conclusions or explains a fact.
An excuse is a transitive verb, pronunced ik-‘skyüz,- to make apology for; to try to remove flame from; to serve as excuse for: to justify. (Source: Miriam-Webster Dictionary)
There are reasons and – then – there are excuses. What may be a valid reason for one person may be an excuse for another.
What’s your excuse?
