There is a clock.  It’s called The Doomsday Clock.  Are you familiar with it?   I’ve pretty much chosen to live – happily – in my own little joyful bubble, and one of the ways that I have succeeded in doing so is by doing my best to steer clear of  Doomsday – Apocalypse type predictions.  For the most part, they are bogus claims, pure sensationalism.

And, honestly, if the world were a mere five minutes away from coming to a screeching halt, what could I do?  At best, I might place a last minute phone call to my kids and let them know that I love them, as if they don’t already know that – for goodness sake (and that’s if the lines weren’t already jammed with others trying to reached their loved ones).

This morning, however, the headlines were Doomsday-O-Plenty; so many so that they were inescapable.   And maybe worth a ‘look-see.’

‘DOOMSDAY CLOCK’ TICKS ONE MINUTE TOWARD DESTRUCTION

CLIMATE CHANGE, NUCLEAR WOES TICK DOOMSDAY CLOCK TO FIVE MINUTES BEFORE MIDNIGHT

OH NOES!  DOOMSDAY CLOCK ONE MINUTE CLOSER TO MIDNIGHT THANKS TO GLOBAL WARMING, OTHER CONCERNS

What is the Doomsday Clock?
The Doomsday Clock is a symbol that was created in 1946 (not an actual ticking clock) that utilizes imagery of the apocalypse and of the clock striking midnight to highlight and dramatize the risks of nuclear weapons and other (man-made) catastrophic threats to humanity.

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists announced yesterday: “Two years ago, it appeared that world leaders might address the truly global threats that we face.  In may cases that trend has not been continued or been reversed.  For that reason, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists is moving the clock hand, one minute closer to midnight, back to its time in 2007.”

How Concerned Should We Be?
Is the Doomsday Clock a mere whisper of what might come to pass or is it the death knell of mortality?   Are we a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants?  Do we know more about war, more about killing than we do about peaceful living?

We live in a win/lose culture (vs. a wisdom-based culture).  Who will be the winner in the nuclear race?   The nuclear war?

“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
-Albert Einstein

What Can WE Do?
We manifest what we focus on.  Let’s together focus on peace, love, and acceptance.  Let’s practice ‘loving-kindness.’  Let’s each one of us embody the change.

I offer a poem from Mokichi Okada, poet, artist, mystic, visionary, businessman, husband, father, and spiritual teacher.  Okada envisioned a world of peace, health, and prosperity.

Born
As human beings,
It is our duty
To strive our utmost
For peace in the world
And the happiness of others.

Those
Who love humanity
And help people in need,
Are always loved
And protected by God
Wherever they may go.

A person
Who strives constantly
To help others
And better the world,
Is like a diamond
Buried in the sand.

So… what does this have to do about weight loss and your health?  Nuclear threat most definitely impacts on your health, the food you eat, your psyche … et cetera!  It’s a holistic life.
