Pigs Can Fly - Janice Taylor, Self-Help Artist

Today is a rather auspicious day.  It is, according to my sources at HolidayInsights.com, not only National Pig Day but National Peanut Butter Day as well (quite the combo, hey?), and according to my calendar, today is Peter’s and my 25th wedding anniversary.

Alas, back in 1987, I did not have Holiday Insight’s vital information at my fingertips.  Had I, the reception menu would have included if not been entirely limited to pigs n’ blankets, peanut butter sandwiches (minus the crust), ants on a log (celery sticks slathered with peanut butter), followed by a simple peanut butter pie.

In honor of the intelligence and cleverness of the pig …
All ladies, whether in the wedding party or not, would have sported pink dresses as the men donned pink shirts with pink flowers in their respective lapels.

Each and every table would have come complete with Pig Coloring Pages and a set of Crayola crayons.  Guests encouraged to color inside or outside the lines, as they like.

Little pig statues presented to all who laughed or cried, celebrated or frowned, enjoyed the festivities or not: parting gifts for all.  On the bottom of the pig’s potbelly, the words, “Pigs Can Fly. ~ Janny and Petey” would be inscribed, because it is an adynaton (figure of speech) that describes an impossibility.  Surely, Peter and I finding each other, flied in the face of flying pigs.

Music from Pink Floyd would have filled the air, as well as any other song with the word ‘pink’ in it.  I do so love a theme!

Nevertheless …
… Pigs and peanut butter aside, the treasured and cherished love, deep commitment to each other, the understanding of the sacredness of the union, and sense of journey would have remained magically the same.

Please join with us today in celebration of peanut butter, pigs and love!
Crust-less peanut butter sandwiches for all!

Spread the word … NOT the icing!
