Are ‘cravings’ a gateway to binging?
It’s worse than we thought!  “They” (as in researchers and scientists) tell us that not only can giving into cravings tip the Scales of Injustice into the wrong direction, but food cravings have been known to trigger binge-eating episodes, which can in turn contribute to obesity and eating disorders.

Whether ‘cravings’ are a gateway to binging for you or simply an obstacle on your permanent weight loss path, here follow a few tips that can help you to PUT AN END TO CRAVINGS now!!!

  1. EAT REGULARLY!!!  Did you know that HUNGER increases our sensitivity to sweet and salty foods?  According to researches at the University of Malawi, ‘tis true!  Therefore, EATING REGULARLY, small or reasonable amounts throughout your day, can help you to stave off cravings.
  2. WALK THE CRAVING OFF!!!  Those who take brisk walks are better able to resist cravings for chocolate.  We’re not talking people who generally ingest an ounce of dark chocolate on occasion; we’re talking chocolate-bar-O-holics – two-bars a day type peeps!  Whether you are a choco-holic, or just someone who needs to ‘move away’ from your cravings, walk!!!  (Source: NY Times)
  3. VISUALIZE the CRAVING AWAY!!!  Imagine the smell of eucalyptus, says Australian researchers, and watch the cravings dissipate into a menthol haze!   If your visualize sense of smell isn’t quite cutting it, try buying a bottle of eucalyptus and sniff here n’ there throughout the day.   Smell what can happen!!!
  4. CHANGE THE WAY YOU FEEL!!!  Cravings for food are likely to surface after experiencing an intense emotion, such as anger, joy, frustration or boredom.  Instead of rushing to the vending machine, possibly tripping over your own feet, thus adding injury to insult, STOP and ASK YOURSELF,  “Am I experiencing an emotional craving?”If yes, review tips one through three and be sure to: Eat Regularly, Walk the Craving Off, and Smell the Eucalyptus! How do you stave off cravings?  PLEASE share your tips and strategies.  Remember, we are in this together … every ounce of the weigh! 🙂
