After the killings of more than 50 Christians and the burning of more than 80 homes in the last 90 days, the government of Nigeria has been asked to halt anti-Christian violence.

At least six Christians were killed in a raid by militant Muslim on the predominantly Christian village of Dorowa in the Barkin Ladi area, and 18 others died in six neighboring Christian villages as 30 houses owned by Christians were burned to the ground.

In Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi state, 35 people died on January 27, police told the French news agency Agence France-Presse. Arson attacks in the town destroyed 50 houses.

An unexploded bomb was found and defused in a Methodist church in Bauchi City on January 31.

Christian leaders in the region have asked that the national Joint Task Force charged with peacekeeping in the region would become more proactive in protecting Christian communities.

“Pray those who suffer tremendous physical pain and trials,” asked the watchdog group Christian Concern International. Pray as well that Christians will be strengthened and delivered by the Lord as 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 promises.

“Ask the Lord to equip those in authority to protect Christians from further attacks,” requested CCI. “Pray He will heal and minister to those who are hurt and grieving. Pray against the enemy’s plans for any further violence.”
