You know you do it. Neglect to write down that appointment and miss it. Dumb. Lose that phone number in a messy pile of papers on your desk. Dumb. Forget to file that report. Dumb. Dumb, dumb, and dumber.
Harry talks about doing dumb things. Or more accurately—not doing them. He’s an author, former CEO of a big corporation, professor in the MBA program at a prominent university, and a partner in a private equity group. In other words—he’s no slouch.
To meet him, he’s just a regular guy. But regular guys don’t accomplish all that he has. And they don’t acquire a following of rock star proportions. Harry Kraemer recently wrote a book about values based leadership, and it’s resonating with people from all walks of life.
Here’s one bit of wisdom Harry has to share: You don’t have to be particularly smart, just don’t do dumb things. Thanks for the “aha” moment, Harry! How often do you torture yourself for your failings, thinking someone smarter could have done it better?
Success is all about attitude, planning, and using the smarts God gave you. Harry talks about values based leadership and he talks about values based living. How are you doing in leading with, and living your values? The workplace is not a place where you leave your faith at the door.
Apply the principles of goodness, gratitude, and praise to your job. You’ll be amazed at how those dumb mistakes you used to make all the time, become rare occurrences. In no time at all, you’ll go from values to action, just as God intended.
