Daily Scripture
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates.
Exodus 20:10
Honoring the Sabbath by resting on the seventh day is a blessing. Exodus 20:10 is explicit in the commandment to refrain from work on the Sabbath. This scripture quote lists who shall not work: you, your son, your daughter, household help, (male or female) your livestock or your house guests. More than likely you could easily add or subtract people (and cattle!) in your life who should rest on the sabbath. But the message is clear and still relevant for our time. God made the Sabbath and He wants us to know the joy and restorative power of it.
