For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function.
Romans 12:4

“It’s not my job.” Often spoken as an escape from doing extra work, this expression can come from a positive perspective as well. If we interpret the ‘members in one body’ as a family, we learn that family members each have their own job to do. Romans 12:4 has a message for over zealous parenting: step aside when a child has work to do. Children’s lives have purpose, and it’s their own responsibility to live a life fulfilled.
