In the land of green tea and tic-tac lunches, Lily finds it odd that there are so many stores lining Main street with calorie-laden goodies. The affluent suburb she lives in is a mecca for over-exercising and under-eating. It’s fashionable for grown women to sport bodies that look positively prepubescent.
What does it say about a society where the rich are under-nourished and the poor are obese? It seems to Lily that moderation should be the rule for all of God’s children, regardless of income. You’re given one body at birth, and it’s your responsibility to take care of it. Whether it’s a cupcake cafe, gelato store, or candy shop in your neighborhood, go visit and have just one. Then take a walk, smile at your neighbors, pet a dog, and look up to the sky and give thanks to God. You’ve done your part to treat yourself to a little of the sweetness that is always present in the bountiful world in which you live.
