And what does Jesus think of children?

“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.’ Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them” (Mark 10:13-16 NLB).

We can do the same. Today, take the children in your life in your arms and place your hands on their heads and bless them! Bestowing blessings in this way is an ancient and powerful act of faith. Something truly amazing happens when we do this.

Here’s the blessing I gave my son:

“Michael, I bless you in the name of Jesus with everything that God intends for you today. I bless your mind with alertness and focus. May you think God’s thoughts and not your own. I bless your hands with efficiency. May the work you do today in school bring God honor. I bless your feet – may you walk the path God has for you today. I bless your heart with passion for truth and for a relationship with your God.”
