It was announced today that four Conde Nast titles–Gourmet, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and Cookie magazine–would be closing following a consultant recommending cost-cutting efforts for the huge publishing company. I am no stranger to the publishing industry’s often-sharpened ax having sort of been under it once upon a time. So I certainly can empathize with every person who received the bad news today and will be out of a job. Please join me in prayer as we lift up everyone who lost their job today.
Heavenly Father,
I come to you in prayer on behalf of those who lost their jobs today because of the Conde Nast magazine closures. 180 talented people are now out of work but Lord I acknowledge that you are Jehovah Jireh, our provider. Though they may be out of work now, I pray that your hand would not be slack in their lives. May their every need be supplied according to your riches in glory. I pray for peace to fall upon everyone from this moment forward. Though they may not understand why this is happening to them, let your peace that passeth all understanding fall upon them. Don’t let them try to reason it out, let them come to the realization that everything happens for a reason. You have an awesome plan for their lives. Help them to trust you. Let them look to you for direction. Let this be a season of new ideas and creativity that they weren’t able to have before. Inspire them to greater works. Show them the good of this situation which seems bad. Do this all in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
