Last night at about 10PM, an oil rig explosion occured on a rig named Deepwater Horizon. At least 12 people are missing and another seven were critically injured. Please join us in prayer for those who are missing, the injured, their family, friends and coworkers, the coast guard, police and every authority figure who will be working tirelessly around the clock to find the missing and calm the fires. Heavenly Father,

In the midst of this tragedy, I pray that you would be with the family and friends of those who were affected by last night’s explosion. As many of those families and friends wonder what has become of their loved ones, comfort each of them and give them the peace that passes all understanding. Give them patience as they await response for the Coast Guard, police and other rescue workers. May they only think of that which is good and pure as they wait for their loved ones to come home. For the members of the Coast Guard, fire department, police department, paramedics and every other involved person, I pray that you would give them the patience to search for the missing and care for the injured in excellence. May they never grow weary in their well doing and may they be strengthened in their moments of weakness knowing that your strength IS made perfect in their weakness. May the fires be calmed on the Deepwater Horizon and may it be restored to better then its original condition. For those who have suffered injuries as a result of the explosion, may they be healed quickly. Be Jehovah Rophe, the God who heals stitch by stitch and restore each person back to good health. Be with each and every single person who has been or will be affected by the explosion. Let this be a time of reflection, meditation and prayer for all on behalf of those affected. Be in our midst during this time of uncertainty and help us always to put our trust in you.
