Libya is the latest Arab nation to suffer popular revolt. Thousands of Libyan protestors clashed with supporters of longtime leader Moammar Qaddafi in central Tripoli today. Libyan armed forces fired machine-guns at thousands of mourners marching in a funeral for anti-government protesters in the Eastern Libyan city of Benghazi . Yesterday, Qaddafi’s commandos along with foreign mercenaries hired by the regime Gadhafi attacked demonstrators with assault rifles and other heavy weapons.
Reports are say 20 people were killed Sunday. Human Rights Watch claims that 173 people have died between Thursday, when the revolts began, and Saturday. Others put the number over 200.
“God, we pray for Libya. We ask you for peace and stability, and even more for freedom. Give Qaddafi and his leadership courage and humility to submit to the cries for justice. Suppress violence and fear in the regime that they must hold power at all costs. Keep radicals and revolutionaries away from Libya. Do not let them inflame and agitate. Bring a new day in Libya…. In Jesus…”
