“Let all that I am wait quietly before God.” Psalm 62:5

Shhhhh, soul…Must you be so antsy?
Hush, appetite; you aren’t going to die if you are hungry…practically a foreign sensation to you.
Still yourself, fears…mostly phantoms anyway.
Silence, pain; you can wait as well…insignificant as you are.
Shut up, condemnation; you are no longer true…thank God.
Be gone, Smart Phone…Tyrant, you are.
Relax, brain…I will teach you a better use of your time.
Enjoy, spirit within me…This is your moment to shine.

Father,

Teach me to quiet my heart and wait in Your presence. You refuse to manipulate me to love and adore you, and sometimes I have to wrestle with myself to still myself long enough to hear your still, small voice. Speak now, Lord. Teach me to listen.

Amen
