“He gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.” Philippians 2:7,10

Jesus,

We have dressed you up and pinned badges on you and paraded you around and turned many off. We have not represented you aright.  We’ve tamed you down. We have made you white and protestant, a convenient handyman always available to fix our little suburban problems. Forgive us, Lord. Show us who you really are. You are risky, unpredictable, rugged, raw, rough around the edges, and offensive to the religious. You forgive yet you are angry with the whiners. You are unfathomable, yet touchable. Above all, you love the least-of-these best-of-all.

Make me like You. Help me love you.

I bow my knee to You, King Jesus, elevated to the highest heights of Heaven. You are all powerful. You are not “tame”, but you are good.

Amen
