…Your promises are backed
by all the honor of your name. ~Psalm 138:2

Our bank has a sign  stating that “deposits are backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.” That gives us a measure of peace that our money won’t be lost or stolen. God has a better guarantee. He backs his promises in his Word with His name – the Name that has never failed. We can bank on His promises, but we have to receive them in faith. “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” We must lay claim to them.

What do you need today? Search the Scriptures, and find a promise that fits your need. Then “take it to the bank.” God Himself will back it up by the honor of His name. But there are caveats – first, we have to seek Him as the number one priority in our lives, we have to repent of our ways that are contrary to His, and we must forgive others.

Father,

Thank you that your promises are in the affirmative for me. I commit myself to learning and understanding them. Please help me lay claim to those promises and to faithfully receive them, trusting that my welfare is in Very Good Hands. Thank you that you are trustworthy. You will never fail.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. ( 2 Corinthian 1:20)
