Marriage changes people at the quantum level. At the altar where their covenant vows are made, they mysteriously change from two human beings into one. Then for the rest of their lives, they have the joy of actively engaging in the work of perfecting their love so that they eventually become one in spirit, mind, and voice. (That’s when they begin to finish each other’s sentences and read each other’s minds.) Their intentions, their goals, their aspirations become united. That covenant unity creates a synergistic, mystical power that can bless the world at every level: spiritually, relationally, financially, intellectually, and in every dimension.

Why, we wonder, does the enemy seek to destroy the institution of marriage? This is why. The world will change when married people live out their destinies, loving each other and using their covenant pact as a springboard for the power of the Kingdom of God to come into every sphere of life. Let’s pray.

Our Father,

We have not taken our marriage covenant seriously enough. Please forgive us. We determine now before God and each other to live out the destiny that you have designed for our marriage. Teach us. Guide us. Energize us. Inspire us. Transform us. Empower us with your Holy Spirit. Open our ears and eyes and minds and hearts to your Word.
