People ruin their lives with the foolish things they do, and then they blame the Lord for it. (Proverbs 19:3)

“Why didn’t God help me keep my boyfriend?”

“Why did God allow me to go bankrupt?”

“Why doesn’t God get me a job?”

“Why did God make me grow up in this family?”

“Why God? Why me?”

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.” (Deuteronomy 30:19,20)

God gave humanity the risky gift of free-will. We are free to follow Him or free to choose our own path. Free to choose the blessing and free to choose the curse. Not everything that happens reflects his perfect plan! We have strayed from it since the first time we handed over the keys of this planet to Satan in the garden when he enticed us to stray from God’s instructions. Yet God in his rich mercy always forgives and always creates a new Plan A to get us back on track. For all those reasons, let’s quit blaming Him and take responsibility for ourselves! We have not followed Him perfectly, yet He is willing to work it all out – the good, the bad and the ugly – for the very best if we love him and follow his call on our lives.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

Father,

Please forgive me for whining and complaining. I take full responsibility for the havoc in my life. I have not followed your voice nor heeded your wisdom and call. I give you my life today. My will is yours. Please create a new path for me, release me from the mess I find myself in. And I trust you to do as you have promised: You will make a way for me!

Amen

“At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22b
