You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self. (Ephesians 4:22)

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. (Colossians 3:10)

Lord,

As I put 2015 to rest once and for all, please use this opportunity to point out areas in my life that need to die. When I am under stress all my old vices seem to rear their ugly heads. So this year, may I put off the old and put on the new! I want to wear love consistently in 2016, loving my family as I love you, loving my friends as I love myself, loving my enemies like I am loved and forgiven by you.

I take off my old self, its bent toward selfishness, anger, envy, and angst, and I put on my new self, the nature You gave me when I was born again. I lean into your Holy Spirit to be filled daily and to grow in the Fruit of the Spirit throughout this New Year.

Out with my old self! In with my new!
