You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. (Exodus 19:4)

He was like an eagle hovering over its nest,
overshadowing its young,
Then spreading its wings, lifting them into the air,
teaching them to fly.
(Deuteronomy 32:11f The Message)

Recall the scene in Lord of the Rings when the eagles come and rescue Frodo and Sam from the fiery mountain of doom. Picture yourself in your current challenge, and see the Lord, personifying Himself as an eagle, rescuing you once and for all from the grip of darkness. His help never seems to come as soon as we whistle for it, but it comes. He comes.

Lord,

Swoop down from heaven and rescue me.

Much of the struggles I encounter today (as You well know) I have created with my own foolish choices. Other people have certainly “helped,” and, for their part, I forgive them. I have repented and received your forgiveness as well. I have instituted your leadership and Lordship in the affairs of my life. Now I await your rescue. You are my strong defender and protector, Mighty to Save. I thank you for lifting me above my circumstances and making me more than a conqueror in every area of my life.

Under your wings I have found refuge. I feel their warmth and comfort. I shall now enjoy the flight as I soar with You.

Amen!
