If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life… (Deuteronomy 4:40)

My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:10)

The promises above are almost too good to be true, but we can’t claim them unless we meat the criteria: obeying ALL the decrees and commands of the Lord… That is a tall order and one that is impossible to satisfy. Jesus boiled all the commandments down to basically one: Love the Lord Your God and love your neighbor as yourself. I can’t step out of his commands unless I step out of love in my thoughts, words, or deeds.

Let’s major in love today! I want things to go well with me and my children, don’t you?!

Father,

Please teach me to walk in love! Help me to love my family (especially when they irritate me), my co-workers (especially the ones that irritate me), my neighbors (particularly the ones that irritate me), and everyone I come into contact with (especially when they irritate me).

Help me become the kind of person that isn’t easily irritated! Teach me to love like You love.

In Jesus’ Name Amen
