Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. (Philippians 1:3)
Here is a prayer for a friend on their birthday. You will find both a female as well as a male version. Lift up your loved ones, praying for encouragement, direction, confidence, and joy with this plain and simple prayer.
HIS…
Father,
Remember your dear one on his birthday. Embrace him truly, boldly, with profound and vivid clarity, so that he knows beyond the possibility of doubt that he is loved and claimed and cared for and protected and provided for by you.
He is in and under your covenant. You have fought for him and delight in him and have already assured him of his place in this world. He is understood and valued and adored. Most of all he is adored. You say, “You are my son, I love you, you delight me.” And this is enough for him; this is all he needs to sustain him and direct him into life.
Build in him the trust and hope that only eternal love from You can secure. May he see how great a love you have lavished on him, that they should be called your child. And that is what he is! Give him dreams of this identity. Give him gifts that affirm it. Give him words from friends speaking on your behalf.
Give him a forgetful holy memory – forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward with hope into what lies ahead all guaranteed by your promises personalized for him. May he believe the best today, in full hope, without a shadow of worry. Banish anxiety and hesitancy from every crevice in his soul.
Grow him as a mighty person of faith, with stories that only and fully honor you, stories that, once told in the great audience of Heaven, will leave us all, saints and angels alike, in awe at the wonder and power of your tender grace, able and willing to raise up such treasures from the ashes of pain, injustice, sorrow and all this world throws his way. Yours is the honor and glory; yours is the Word, the last word!. Let this be!
Yes and Amen!
