May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. (Matthew 15:5)

Love is patient. (1 Corinthians 13:4)

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (Ephesians 3:19)

Father,

Your Word promises me both patience and encouragement. I could use a lot of both. I receive patience for those in my life that try me. It’s not their problem, Lord, it’s mine. I am the one with this dangling nerve that others can so easily bump into. This causes dissonance and knee-jerk reactions that are harmful in my relationships. I want to live in harmony with those I love. “Complete” harmony. So make me a complete person, one who knows and understands and experiences Your great love. Love is patient. So make me patient. Ready to wait when others are late. Ready to forgive when others offend. Ready to smile on others when I’m tempted to grimace. Make me like You, my great, loving, and patient Father. Always ready to wait while I dawdle. Always eager to forgive when I miss it. I love you and worship you.

Amen
