If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. (James 1:5)

“I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)

We had dear friends, parents of two toddlers, stay with us for two weeks recently. I couldn’t help but notice that child-rearing has changed since Mark and I were raising our children. “How so?” you ask. Google! Parents can google any question in less than a blink of an eye. Your child has a bee bite? Google to the rescue! Your child has a burn? Google! Your child has a hiccup? Google!

All that can be helpful, no doubt, but let’s not forget where our true wisdom comes from. Google answers have the potential to do more harm than good, produce more anxiety than not, and churn up more problems than they alleviate. Run to Jesus first, dear parents! He is the Source of all wisdom.

Father,

Please forgive me for creating a googly-eyed god out of Google! I choose to run to you first, breathing a prayer for wisdom, and receiving that wisdom from Your Spirit, for you care deeply about everything that concerns me! Thank you that I have ears to hear you, that I am Your sheep and I hear the voice of my Good Shepherd.

Amen
