“Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:15b,16)
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Perhaps you are facing a grave situation today that leaves you asking the age-old question, “What will we do?” Things seem hopeless and your confidence has expired with your strength.
Elisha has the answer to your poignant question. Three little words: “Do not fear.”
It may seem that the idea of not fearing is out of reach, counterintuitive, if not irresponsible. But keep reading… The truth of the matter is that you have more power at hand than you ever imagined.
Elisha prayed for the young man, that God would open his spiritual eyes to see the reality of what was around him. God did. Suddenly he saw that the hillside around them was completely amassed with hosts of angels, arrayed for battle on Elisha’s behalf.
My friend, God has you covered. If you have entered into covenant with Him, said, “Yes” to Jesus’ proposal to take Him as your Lord, then you get everything He has! Angels to protect you, wisdom to guide you, power to sustain you, joy in the midst of troubles, overcoming faith in the face of obstacles, and love! True love.
Father,
Open my eyes as you did Elisha’s friend, and show me the reality of the protection you have for me today. Help me to remember that you have already won these battles I am fighting, yet you have a part for me to play. My part is to believe in faith what you have said, to fight the good fight of faith with my declarations and my praise. Embed your truth so deeply into my heart that I become a person who is incapable of fear!
In Jesus’ Name Amen.
