Maybe the bills have to be paid, and there’s not enough in the account. Perhaps the kids need to be tended, and there’s not enough time. There could be a strange nagging pain, and you’re afraid. Underlying everything perhaps there’s a tension-building soundtrack agitating and mounting anxiety. Life is challenging. We need peace.

Jesus promised us peace. He puts his guarantee this way: “Peace I leave with you. Peace I give you to you. Not as the world gives do I give peace to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled. And do not be afraid!”

“Peace be still,” he says.

Today, pause for a moment in the midst of your tension, and ask for God’s peace. Then wait, and wait some more until God’s presence begins to settle upon you. As he comes, he will begin to release the stress and anxiety wound in your body and soul. “Come, Jesus, and bring your peace…”

My wife Jill Herringshaw has just released a CD called “Reflections on Peace.” Yes, she’s my wife and I’m preferential, but I can honestly say it’s an amazing tool for releasing the peace of God. You can hear a sample song here. You can find it exclusively at Target stores. It’s in the “Lifescapes” kiosk near the card section.

“Peace!”
