In three short weeks I will turn 40. This creates a number of internal dilemmas for me the least of which is the fact that I always thought 40 was old. Now I’m rethinking my whole idea of what “old” is and am considering removing that word from my vocabulary!
As a gift to myself and from my dear wife, I am pursuing my Doctoral degree from George Fox University – a leader in innovative education. The particular degree I will by pursuing is a Doctorate in Global Missions Leadership that focuses on “equipping Christian leaders in the church, civil society organization, and mission communities to confidently, constructively, and effectively carry out the mission of the gospel of Jesus Christ in an increasingly interconnected world.”
Today I leave for Oxford, England, then on to Nuremburg, Germany, as part of this program. Our cohort will be meeting with some of the finest theologians in the world including Jim Belcher the author of Deep Church and Martyn Percy, principle of Rippon College at Oxford.
As I walk in the steps of great men of God like C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, I want to take you along with me on this journey. The entirety of our schedule can be found by clicking here. It may be something you’d like to participate in one day as well. I’ll be posting pictures and video of our time together.
Can’t wait for a cup of English tea as soon as I arrive!
