No other person in history has created more change and disruption to the status quo than Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

And for those people who are following Jesus’ teachings in ways we would consider “radical,” there’s a lot of change and disruption there too.

I’m sure you could think of a few people who have experienced radical change and life disruption.

Through the crucifixion, our sins are nailed to the cross, paid in full, and flung as far apart as east is from west.

And in the resurrection, Jesus offers new life.

A changed life.

A disrupted life.

In the old way, we rejected God. We chose to try and make ourselves like him and to glorify ourselves.

In the new life, we choose Jesus. We choose to live in ways that increase God’s glory, not our own.

We submit.

We obey.

We change.
