In the early 1990s, a group of visionaries met face-to-face with children who were quite literally perishing in Russian orphanages. Their vision brought Children’s HopeChest and our Russian ministry partner, Nadezdha Fund, into existence. This year, we celebrate 15 years of visionary leadership and transformational ministry to orphans in Russia.

From those humble beginnings, Nadezhda Fund and HopeChest have blossomed into one of the most respected Christian ministries in Russia. Together we pioneered foster care programs,  family centers, and prevention programs for trafficking. Today, our Russia ministry is a thriving network of transitional living and community resource programs spanning five regions. Here are just some of our results compared to national statistics on orphans:

• 85% reduction in criminal activity
• 75% drop in drug addiction and alcohol abuse
• 75% rise in college enrollment and attendance
• 0.7% unemployment (vs. 15% nationally)
• 96% decrease in pregnant orphans abandoning their children to become orphans
