There are few tools more powerful than a well-told story. And C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia are some of the best out there. Like Lewis, I have written fiction and nonfiction books, and I can tell you that moving between the two genres is difficult.

Lewis’ genius and creativity is simply remarkable.

God’s all about stories. He’s the most prolific author, and the greatest editor. He enjoys the process of beginnings and endings, and adding beauty and purpose to everything in between.

We get that. We are inspired by epic victories, tragic turns, a hero bringing justice to a fallen world. It’s in our DNA to want resolution…to need triumph at the end of struggle, and to celebrate it anywhere it happens.

What we often fail to realize is that we are primary characters in God’s story of rescue and redemption. We are blessed to be a blessing. We are called to Christ to call others to Him.

What we do in this life drives the story God is writing.

But Russia’s orphans have a story few would want to read. It’s rarely victorious. It has few heroes. Trafficked. Enslaved. Addicted. Arrested. Suicidal. These words are spread like scarlet letters on their chests as they wait for their hero.

C.S. Lewis understood our innate need for redemption. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan rules Narnia with justice and mercy, and intense love. His very presence thaws the evilest of winters. Just as Jesus comes as the ultimate hero of humanity, Aslan comes to Narnia to bring it back to life.

To set things right again.

To break the curse.

This month we are launching a campaign to get one life-changing story in the hands of every single Russian orphan we work with. Kids love stories more than any of us. The potential for impact is huge.

We are the heroes, but only if we act like it. Like Peter, knighted by Aslan to rule and protect Narnia–we too have a part to play in changing that horrible story for orphans. We’re all part of the epic here – and God has a part for you to play.

When you give $30, we can provide one child with a copy of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and cover costs of creating the new curriculum and providing intensive training to our staff. Would you give $30 today?
