Something for the impeach Bush folks:

In what was likely her final legislative act in Congress, outgoing Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney announced a bill Friday to impeach President Bush.

The legislation has no chance of passing and serves as a symbolic parting shot not only at Bush but also at Democratic leaders. Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, has made clear that she will not entertain proposals to sanction Bush and has warned the liberal wing of her party against making political hay of impeachment.

[…]
She has served as host for numerous panels on September 11 conspiracy theories and suggested that Bush had prior knowledge of the terrorist attacks but kept quiet about it to allow friends to profit from the aftermath.

Pelosi may be able to control her House members but she will not be able to control her base, as I’ve mentioned before, in January they plan to take matters in their own hands and this Sunday they plan to protest:

Impeachment may be “off the table” for the Democrats’ incoming congressional leadership, but left-wing activists will rally across the nation Sunday calling on Congress to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney for what they consider to be human rights abuses and war crimes.
More than 50 demonstrations are planned from Connecticut to New Mexico on Sunday, the anniversary of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was signed Dec. 10, 1948. The anniversary has been dubbed “Human Rights Day.”
Protesters will lobby their elected officials in Congress for investigations and impeachment and will encourage their local officials to pass resolutions in support of impeachment, organizers said.

I’ll keep you posted about attendance figures 🙂 It will be interesting to see how many Americans want to impeach Bush. It should give aid and comfort to the enemy.
