I know that people are excited about their candidate and want to get the buzz going about them with good online straw poll numbers but getting caught cheating is embarrassing for your candidate:
CHEATER ALERT! Spam voting was detected last week for Fred Thompson, Hillary Clinton and Tom Trancredo and the numbers for those candidates adjusted accordingly. Our IT staff continues to monitor the voting.
No need to cheat for Thompson, he’s winning the poll each week without any help:
The twelfth week saw the Fred Thompson surge continue. The Fred’s percentages have remained strong – from 34.9 to 43.7 to 38.6 – in the last three weeks, and the guy hasn’t even declared yet.
In other news:
The Paul Harvey show seems to have been renamed The Fred Thompson Report.
Cal Thompson thinks that Thompson should run and compares him favorably to Reagan:
He has Ronald Reagan’s communication skills and speaks plainly in ways most people can understand. There’s something else to like about Fred Thompson. He doesn’t appear to be lusting after the job as if he needs it for his self-image. This, too, is much like Reagan, who knew who he was before becoming president and was the same after he left office.
I think that we’ve all come to that conclusion, helpfully Thompson has as well.
Today’s the big day for the Thompson “campaign” because he goes to meet with members of Congress. Let’s see what kind of a reception he gets.
The Tennessean says that it’s part of his “pre-decision tour.”
