If I were a HS teacher, there is no way I would eat anything my students made. This is not the first time I’ve heard of a teacher getting sick because they were poisoned by food provided by their students:

A side note: the name of the school is Global Studies. I thought that was rather odd so I checked it out and discovered this review of the school. For those of you who might be wondering, like me, what the heck is radical math, here’s the explanation.

integrate issues of economic and social justice into our math classes… math literacy is a civil right, and that our nation’s failure to provide students, especially low-income youth of color, with a high-quality math education, is a terrible injustice.

According to the site they encourage the kids to think about how math can be used to solve problems in their community.
Hmmm…interesting way to integrate math into everyday life but isn’t the lack of math skills the fault of the local teachers and the school board? Isn’t this a failure of the community, not the nation?
Maybe if educators really thought math literacy was a civil right, they might be more inclined to vote for legislators who support school choice.
