I guess it isn’t very surprising that this year there would be a discrepancy among two of the tried and true polls that usually mirror the outcome of the race. Cindy McCain won the cookie recipe battle against Michelle Obama:
Cindy McCain’s oatmeal-butterscotch recipe received 54 percent of the readers’ vote, to 44 percent for Michelle Obama’s shortbread cookies, Family Circle magazine announced this afternoon. Bill Clinton, who submitted his oatmeal cookie recipe before Hillary Clinton dropped out, received 2 percent of the vote.
The husband of the winner of this poll has won the race for the White House since 1992.
But the Scholastic Presidential Election Poll shows Obama winning by a significant margin:
The Scholastic Presidential Election Poll results are in: Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama won with 57 percent of the vote, to 39 percent for Republican nominee Senator John McCain.
This poll has mirrored the election results in all the current elections except for Truman vs. Dewey and Nixon vs. Kennedy (really close races). This year though, they included an online poll along with their usual paper ballots which should give us pause. How did they monitor it to make sure only kids voted? Very suspicious. I wouldn’t pin my hopes on it if I were you, Obamanites.
