The quote is from a guy, James T. Harris, who dared to ask McCain a question at a Wisconsin town hall rally. Why would he be getting hate mail? Because he dared to support McCain and not Obama. If you’re black and support McCain, you’re considered a house n* (or at least that’s what the emailers think). When you think about the historical context, it’s ironic. If you don’t understand the irony, this guy will explain it to you:I think that we can all agree that there is nothing wrong with blacks wanting to vote into office the first black President of the United States but what is wrong is insisting that those blacks who don’t vote for him are traitors to their race, that crosses the line into racism. Principles matter and can transcend race and gender (I certainly wouldn’t have voted for Hillary over McCain) and no one should be faulted for turning a blind eye to color and voting for the candidate who shares their principles (or at least comes the closest — we are talking about McCain here :-). I think King would have approved (after all, he was a Republican :-)BTW, here’s an interview where the reporter asks Harris why he doesn’t support Obama “in light of what’s happened” (implying that McCain is being racist in his attacks):
