Yes, the fur industry keeps us safe from those vicious minks who are just waiting to attack us if given a chance:

Of course, as the PETA spokesman points out in the article, most fur comes from fur farms, not hunters. Though, I didn’t realize that fur is being imported from China. Yet another industry we’ve lost to China?
