Here’s a list of 15 companies that might go under this year. Not surprising that they are ready to go under since they took on way too much debt during the good times and didn’t prepare for a downturn in the economy. Maybe they need to send some lobbyists to Washington to see if they can get in on some of the bailout money.
I’m a little conflicted that Claire’s is on the list. We have a Claire’s gift card that we need to redeem before they declare chapter 11 but I won’t miss hanging out in front of the store with the other parents while we wait for hours for our kids to decide what they want. I’m surprised they’re not making a killing since the store is always packed with teenagers and pre-teenagers and I know they are buying stuff because we almost always have to wait in line to make a purchase.
And it would be a bummer to lose Six Flags before Samantha graduates from middle school. A trip to Great Adventure is the prize for making it through middle school and Samantha is going to feel ripped off if they can’t go.
