While I agree that it’s a good idea for us to pray for these kids in the foster care system and for the men and women who work with the kids, I think we should also encourage our state representatives to stop cutting back on social workers and maybe we should think about joining the foster care program ourselves and adopt the kids before they age out of the system:

Followers of Christ are being called to pray throughout this week for the needs of the children, workers and families of the foster care system.
Gatherings have been planned in at least 30 states across the country as part of the 2009 National Foster Care Prayer Vigil, sponsored for the second consecutive year by Focus on the Family, Hope for Orphans, and Show Hope.

It is good for us to get involved in this issue since caring for orphans is what we are called to do:
