Mark Driscoll went to Haiti to find out the condition of the church in Haiti. So much devastation, so many dead, so much need, it’s overwhelming but I bet that the pastors Driscoll met felt comforted by the fact that Driscoll wants to help them rebuild.I was particularly struck by the fact that Christians have nowhere to go to gather together to worship and pray since most of the churches have been destroyed. Christians are scattered throughout the city and have no way of communicating with each other. I can’t begin to fathom what that must feel like to be cut off from your support system, not having the comfort of God’s word to strengthen them as the face this devastating tragedy. I know how helpful it’s been knowing that others are praying for me and knowing that I have the support of my church who are ready to help me in anyway we need it so I know what they are missing.I was also struck by the Bible college teacher who lost his wife and is left to take care of four little boys by himself but still puts his trust in God. He lost his wife, his job, his home and his church and yet he can say that his joy is from the Lord.(via)BTW, if you want to help an organization that is on the ground in Haiti providing medical assistance, check out Team Rubicon.
