Smugde and Noodles have been my four legged, furry children for over 10 years now.  Noodles was here when my kids were still at home.  She will soon be 16 in people years, that’s 119 in kitty years.  She doesn’t do much these days except for eat, sleep, snuggle and purr.  I think her old body is running out of steam.  That will be a sad day for me, when I find her curled up and not breathing.

But for now, they both still enjoy curling up together….almost any place.  They were too funny here when they tried to sleep in the same bag.  Somehow they managed, but they got pretty twisted up.  The closer the better seems to be their rule.  They slept here all afternoon.

Smudge has started doing a balancing act on the arm of one of our old chairs.  The arm can’t be more the than 2 inches wide, but he gets all 4 feet up there and weaves back and forth.  Many times he goes to sleep and falls on the floor.  He just gets up and tries again.  I don’t know what he’s thinking, there are plenty of nice, soft places for him to sleep.

One morning I got up to find this duo on my desk.  They just pushed all my stuff and papers out of the way and made themselves comfortable.  I found pictures on he floor, bills in the trash, blogs crumpled up and pens swatted everywhere.  Apparently they had some fun before calling it a night.  What a mess….but ya gotta love them. After all we didn’t punish our real kids for such things, and these are just dumb cats.

Today with so much stress and uncertainly around us, sometimes it just feels good to sit with my snuggle bunnies and listen to them purr contentedly.  They are happy and feel safe and all is well with the world……at least in my recliner world.
