In 1967-68 I attended God’s Bible School and College.  This school is still going strong in 2011.  They have added new buildings and new people, but their religious stance remains the same.   It has been over 40 years and yet I remember my experiences at GBSC as some of the richest in my life.

Today I attend a non-denominational church in Toledo, Ohio.   They still preach Jesus as Lord and still teach a life of dedication to service.  Many Christians today have strayed so far from the true gospel that it’s difficult to separate them from the world.  At GBSC we didn’t have that problem.

Our dress code was strict.  Our girls hair was long.  We had chapel every day.  We ministered to the poor and needy.  We witnessed to the down cast and gave hope to the hopeless.  Our lives revolved around serving Jesus every day and in every way we could.

We sang songs like, “Victory in Jesus”, “The Old Rugged Cross”,  “Blessed Assurance”, and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.  Songs that spoke to the power and faithfulness of our God.  Those songs stirred hope in the hearts of the sad and lonely.  The atmosphere at G BSC was one of encouragement and integrity.

Are these people perfect?  Of course not, but they do have a way of living that is worth remembering.  You won’t find their students in short shorts or mini skirts.  You won’t find their students with tons of makeup and tight slacks.   They won’t be cursing in one breath and praising God in the next.   It was a simple way of life.  They do not look like the world. They do not act like the world.

II Corinthians 6:17 “…come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

I believe we still should be separated from the world.  Maybe we don’t need all the strict rules and regulations of GBSC, but we need some rules.  We have gone too far the other way.  I believe we need more of that “Old Time Religion” today.
