The Republicans had a real shot at winning a sizable chunk of the Jewish vote this year. Many were scared of Obama’s former pastor, his church, and its coziness with Louis Farrakhan.
But a new Gallup poll indicates that Jews are now going for Obama 74%-22%, about the same rate that they supported John Kerry. In June, his margin was 62%-31%
The poll didn’t isolate the reasons but here’s my theory: Sarah Palin. The only thing that elderly Jews fear more than anti-semitic black pastors is “right-wing” evangelical Christians.
