Daniel Cowart, one of the neo-Nazis who was planning to murder 88 blacks (decapitating 14) and then assassinate Barack Obama, lists his favorite books on his MySpace page: “The God Delusion” along with “Swastika” and “Hitman.”
No, I’m not suggesting that atheists are more likely to murder because Cowart liked The God Delusion. But it is a reminder to Bill Maher that it’s not only religious zealots who are prone to insane violence.
Intriguingly, he also lists “The Other Bible”, which is described as a “comprehensive volume ancient, esoteric holy texts from Judeo-Christian tradition that were excluded from the official canon of the Old and New Testaments, including the Gnostic Gospels, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Kabbalah, and several more.” It’s both very spriitual and implicitly conspiratorial, a la Davinci Code.
Finally, he lists “God’s Debris,” a philosophy book of sorts by Scott Adams, the creator of the comic strip Dilbert. I don’t know what to read into that.
