“Jewish Americans cannot afford to make the wrong decision on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008,” reads an email that says it’s from the Republican Federal Committee of PA – Victory 2008. “Many of our ancestors ignored the warning signs in the 1930s and 1940s and made a tragic mistake. Let’s not make a similar one this…

At last count, fifty bishops have said voters should cast their ballot entirely on the basis of abortion. David Gibson highlights one Bishop who criticized a university for extending a speakers invitation to Doug Kmiec, a conservative, pro-life Catholic who recently endorsed Obama.

The Salt Lake City Tribune Reports: The LDS Church’s campaign to pass Proposition 8 represents its most vigorous and widespread political involvement since the late 1970s, when it helped defeat the Equal Rights Amendment. It even departs from earlier efforts on behalf of traditional marriage, in which members felt more free to decide their level…

A delightful extra-curricular activity from suburban St. Louis. What rapscallions.

Earlier, I theorized that dislike of Sarah Palin was a key part of the significant shift of mainline Protestants to Obama. I love it when the facts catch up with my theories. Today’s ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll indicates that while 70% mainline Protestants viewed her favorably in early September, now only 46% do.

Yech. Rabbi Hirschfeld suggests this may be a case of Obama supporters arguing that his election woudl be God’s will. This makes me as uncomfortable as when Sarah Palin or James Dobson promote that idea for John McCain.

The Republicans had a real shot at winning a sizable chunk of the Jewish vote this year. Many were scared of Obama’s former pastor, his church, and its coziness with Louis Farrakhan. But a new Gallup poll indicates that Jews are now going for Obama 74%-22%, about the same rate that they supported John Kerry.…

My Esteemed colleague Crunchy Con suggests we should all “Get off Palin’s back about the wardrobe.” On the pro-side of relentlessly thwacking Republicans until they bleed: they said Obama was elitist; Joe the Plumber; they said Obama was a Britney clone; the John Edwards’ precedent. On the con side: if the Dems mock McCain for…

Stunning. Shocking. Impossible? Barna, the premier pollster of the evangelical world, just released a new survey finding it’s a dead heat among “born again” Christians: McCain 45% Obama 43% Undecided 10% Points of reference: Bush won 62% of Born Agains, according to Barna. Keep in mind that Barna defines “Born Again” differently than most pollsters.…
