Natalia Bryant shared an emotional speech about her late father, Kobe Bryant, during a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony was held to reveal Kobe’s one-of-a-kind concrete display of his hand and footprints which were originally cast in February 2011, but will now be permanently displayed in front of the iconic theatre. The Bryant family was in attendance with Vanessa Bryant and her and Kobe’s three daughters, Natalia, Bianka and Capri. Their eldest daughter, Natalia, delivered a touching speech in remembrance of her father.
“I’m honored to be here today to recognize the man we all knew and love, my dad, Kobe Bryant,” said Natalia. “When most people knew him as a basketball player or storyteller, I got to know him and love him as my dad and let me tell you, he’s the MVP of girl dads, to say the least. As you visit here for years to come, I encourage you to place your hands in his and take a moment to stand in his shoes.” Natalia, who is currently in school at the University of Southern California studying film, was touched that her father was being honored at such a historic and iconic theatre. She ended her speech by saying, “Dad, you are an icon, a legend, a storyteller. And, most important, the best girl dad any young woman can dream of.”
The legendary basketball player passed away on January 26, 2020 along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, in a helicopter crash. Kobe and Gianna, along with seven others including Gianna’s basketball teammates and their parents, were on their way to a girls basketball tournament when they crashed in the hills of Calabasas. The world stopped when they heard the news of the passing of Bryant, leaving millions of basketball fans shocked. Since then, Bryant’s wife and children have been doing all they can to honor the life of him and Gianna.
